I started my running career in my hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina chasing mountain bikes around the single-track switchbacks by Lake Brant. There I ran for Greensboro Day School and the Greensboro Pacesetters Track Club under the coaching of Charlie Brown and his dog Snoop. With the Pacesetters I qualified for seven USATF age group national championships and SENT it by taking the national championship and club record in the 2k steeplechase with a 6:06 my last year with the club.
Following my high school career, I was recruited to Clemson University and given the chance to continue my racing career. At Clemson I ran ACC cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track for four years. Here I had the opportunity to train with both Full Send sponsored athlete Jack Felix and the man himself Justin “Full Send” Lippert. Training and racing with these guys, I was able to post track times in the 14:40s for 5k and the 9:20s for the 3k steeplechase, and cross-country times of sub 25:00 in the 8k and sub 31:30 in the 10k. However, a debilitating injury cut my senior year short just shy of outdoor track season. The next six months were spent doing exercises, visiting PT’s, and cross training by swimming and biking – thus my triathlon career was born.
Shortly thereafter starting graduate school and training healthy again, I joined The Ohio State University Triathlon Club, and started #FullSending races my first season with a 1st place collegiate finish at OSU Ross Heart sprint tri. At OSU I train and compete with awesome Full Send teammate Payne Pachuda.
Outside of sports at Clemson I received my BS in biochemistry with minors in chemistry, and music, and I am currently a chemistry graduate student at The Ohio State University.
