I didn’t send in to triathlon, but triathlon full sent in to me. As a collegiate walk-on at Boise State University for Cross Country and Track and Field, swimming and cycling were not high on my list of fun activities to do. Running was life and sent it I did. But it’s pretty hard to send it running when you’re a broken runner. The pool and bike became outlets to stay fit and once I bought my first bike to mash unmeasured watts on (no power meter for me in those days), there was no turning back.
My first race was full sent in a sleeveless shorty wetsuit, clips and running shoes on the bike, and the most painful run I had ever done. Since that first triathlon, many things have changed, new bike, newer bike, and even newer bike, tech, tech, tech (powermeter, bike computer, watch – gotta monitor the mashing and sending), and coaching through Nor’Easter Triathlon. But one thing has remained the same, sending, SENDing, SENDING!
2018 was my best year to date with a Top-10 finish at the Sprint Distance National Championships (triathlon turned duathlon) and qualifying for both the Olympic and Sprint World Championships in 2019. My goals for 2019 are to focus on qualifying for my Pro License and Draft Legal Triathlon and winning a National Title. Other accomplishments include 2017 Standard Duathlon World Championships Age-Group Podium, 2017 Standard Duathlon National Champion, and 7x Team USA World Championship Qualifier in both the Triathlon and Duathlon.
